I've just upgraded Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell 4.2.5 to Windows 10. Whenever I restart, Classic Shell says it "needs to configure itself for the new operating system" and tries to run ClassicStartMenu.exe -upgrade. Windows10 refuses to let this run; Classic Shell starts fine afterwards. I notice there is a 4.2.5c with updated certificates, but when I try to install it, it says that I have to uninstall the existing version first. Is there a way to update so that the annoying startup messages will go away, but without losing my current configuration settings? TIA... |

Well, like the message said, uninstall the current version and then install 4.2.5c. You will not lose the settings. |
