Post subject:  Add custom shortcuts to Classic Shell Context Menu? (Win7)

I'm trying to find a way to recreate the so-called "Quick Access Menu" from Windows 8 and 10, in Windows 7. What I would like is when I right click the Start button the context menu presents various useful shortcuts. These shortcuts should be customizable. This screenshot illustrates what I'd like. I see Classic Shell has its own Start button context menu, which can be enabled/disabled through 'Classic Start menu Settings' >> 'Controls' tab, but I can't see any options to control what appears in the context menu. Is this possible? If not, has such a feature been considered for development? Thanks :)

Sorta not possible through classic shell; However Classic style with <No Skin> looks very similar, and you could assign it to open with shift+win (or shift+left click) or another custom hotkey (just not right click, without some autohotkey voodoo)

http://www.lopesoft.com/index.php/en/ lets you customize the right click context menu.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried it and I see what you mean. Not quite what I was after though.

Unless I've missed something, 'FileMenu Tools' doesn't allow you to edit the Start button's context menu. I'd welcome you to correct me if I'm wrong about this.

My assumption is that, since Classic Shell has its own Start button context menu, there might be scope for allowing the user to customise what appears in it.

You are correct, Filemenu Tools doesn't edit the win+x menu (which only exist on windows 8-10) and there is currently no real way to edit classic shells right click menu beyond deleting shortcuts or disabling it entirely.
The feature has been requested, however its use-case is quite limited; since it would only really benefit windows 7 users (as the win+x menu is already quite easy to customize)
Which is why there probably isnt any real 'solution' currently out there

But if its really a big deal, and you are already using classic shell as your primary start menu (and thus aren't willing to sacrifice it for a 'right click' menu) The next best option would probably be coding your own with Rainmeter and hard-coded links for everything you want to include.. But I would expect that to be a 4~ hour project for someone without any prior coding experience..

The Win+X menu was added by Microsoft because there was no Start Menu in Windows 8. If you put back a Start Menu, having another menu to access things which are already organized by Control Panel and Administrative Tools is redundant.

The contents of the Win+X menu are already in the Start Menu. By default, most tools are in Administrative Tools or Control Panel which you can display as a menu.

Or you can also directly add them as a Custom menu item in Classic Shell or pin them to the left side.

Its far from redundant, and I use it frequently in conjunction with classic shells menu... That's like saying having a second column in classic shell is redundant because you could put everything in the first..
I'd rather not have system controls like device manager, un-install programs, and firewall directly in my start menu. But would still like quick, keyboard-free access to them. This is why I requested this very feature back when I was on windows 7...

Agreed - and I see there's a ready-made way to edit that menu if you're on 8 or 10.

I've lived long enough without it, so it's not that big a deal. ;)
