Post subject:  Win7 Username = user does not work

I am creating this item because I have not been able to find relevant entries using the Forum Search.
I have several machines using classicshell 3.6.6. On two of the machines ClassicShell doesn't seem to work correctly (Search doesn't affect the Recent Programs, etc.). I have not pursued it in Classic Explorer, etc. The only common factor that I can see is that the way that Win7 was installed causes a default Username of "user" instead of the Username of the logon (sometimes documented as <user>).

How can I configure Classic Shell to handle this problem?

Or, better yet:
Can I "fix" Win7 to display the logged on Username? It would solve other issues, too.

1. Classic Start Menu automatically picks the user name text from Windows. If your setting has changed, right click the Start button, open Settings -> All Settings -> Menu Look tab. Right click the option "User name text" and choose "Set Default". That should return it to the text Windows has. Or you can also enter a custom text.

Note: The above instructions set the user name only for the Classic Start Menu. To change the user name in Windows 7, press Win+R keys together to open the Run dialog. Type netplwiz and hit Enter. Click your user name and click Properties. There you can change the User name. Click OK to save.

2. The search box should show anything launched from it in the Start Menu's Recent list. To make sure the setting is correctly set, right click the Start button -> Settings -> All Settings -> Customize Start Menu tab. In the left column, locate and double click "SearchBoxItem". It should have the option "Track Recent Items" checked and "Don't Track Recent Items" should be unchecked. If not, set it accordingly. Thereafter, anything you launch from the search box should show up in the Start Menu's Recent programs list.
