I was just hanging out on google, for > 2 hours, while my clever little brother wrote some batch magic, just to fix the 'no-cascading sendto BS' post-XP.

Whilst idling across cyberspace, I bit the bullet and installed classic shell. didn't even need to reboot...

after numerous clicks & ooohs, I went for enable-all settings...

Guys, you've nailed it :D

loving the fix recent...

my jumplists are precious (controlpanel menu 'all items' remove, replaced with pinned regular, still buggy with my 'dell audio'.cpl appearing twice, etc... )

I love the options you give...

I'm wondering if there's a way to 'import' my existing pre-classicshell startmenu pinned entries

Thank you for adding ctrl+up/down to manage the order of the (previously) fixed-order right-panel :D :D

Recent programs!!!

Re this^ aka the former-bairn of my life, I think one of the problems I have (no recent visibility, even after modding EditFlags) with one of my common filetypes (.chm) is that (I think) chmhelpviewer (hh.exe) doesn't have a file>open... just wondering, whilst composing my thanks, whether ClassicShell could help with better managing fileassociations (re recent items shortcuts)...

Thanks for this, made my day :D

The Windows 7 start menu stores the pinned programs here: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu
You may be able to copy the shortcuts to the Classic Shell pinned folder %APPDATA%\ClassicShell\Pinned

Glad that you notice the options and make full use of them.

if all you did was allow the increased width of the jumplists (to accommodate lengthy control panel applet titles), I'd probably be tempted.

The options to edit are insane!! I'm guessing that, without classicShell, recentItem entries are usually always created? (Playing with the 'make recent shortcut' option on each of the start menu menu's, like documents library and administrative tools)...

Is there a max to recent items? I can set 999999 jumplists ! Better not. Multi-column omg ... slick.

New user. Found that CM is not populated by my pinned menu items. Discovered the below in this thread:

"The Windows 7 start menu stores the pinned programs here: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu
You may be able to copy the shortcuts to the Classic Shell pinned folder %APPDATA%\ClassicShell\Pinned"

However, I'm not finding this second folder. ClassicShell\Pinned doesn't appear to exist.

C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming correct?

What am I missing?

Pin something to the start menu and then look at the properties of the created shortcut to see where it is stored. The location can be different depending on the settings.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have mentioned I'm on Win 7 Home Premium.
This is the path I get "C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu". Does this seem right to you? I would have expected a ClassicShell subfolder somewhere in the path.

By default in the Classic style the start menu uses the "Start Menu" folder to store the pinned shortcuts because it works more like the classic start menu. The Windows 7 style uses the "Pinned" folder.
You can change that using the setting "Pinned Programs folder" in the Main Menu tab.

Well, now I'm embarrassed. I completely missed that digging through the settings. Thank you for your patience.
