Hi there, sometimes when I press the Windows-button en start typing a search term quickly, the search box remains empty, I may be too quick. Is that possible? Is there a solution? Peter |

Classic Shell is one of the fastest apps and Ivo has done a great amount of work to make it as responsive as possible. It can be any reason - you might be starting to type too soon or your PC might be slightly slower. After pressing Win key, the menu can be made to open faster on slower computers by disabling frequent programs and highlighting. You could also turn off display of Metro apps in the main menu. Besides these, there is nothing that can be done to open it even quicker. By upgrading to a faster PC you can experience a great boost in performance, although even on my 8-9 year old laptop from 2007-2008, Classic Start Menu is extremely quick to open with all features enabled. |

My computer is brand new. It has a ssd drive. I can see it open slightly slow, about app. 0,5 seconds? I have CS in Win 7 mode. What do you mean by turning off display of Metro apps? What are they and how to do that? |

Try the following changes to Start Menu Settings and see if it opens faster: - Change "Show recent or frequent programs" to "Recent programs" (from Main Menu tab) - Uncheck "Highlight newly installed programs" and "Highlight newly installed apps" (from General Behavior tab) - On Main Menu tab, uncheck "Show Metro apps" and "Show recent Metro apps". Besides this you can't optimize it further to make it open faster. You will have to get used to waiting for a split second or two before you begin typing if the search box is missing the characters you type. |
