Win 10. Classic Start installed and working, then switched to the other user (was a HUGE delay!), then back. Now no classic start button, the win button is there but dead, the tray icons are missing, even the ones for actually running programs are not there. (I did find out how to make programs run, using the >> button. Next, I suppose, figure out how to shutdown/restart without any buttons. Pull the plug?) The desktop icons also disappeared, but were recovered with the right-click menu on the desktop -perhaps a separate issue. From reading other threads, it seems likely the solution is to uninstall Classic, then reinstall Win 10. But,but, geez, doesn't that require losing all my programs? ![]() |

You can be sure that Classic Shell does not affect tray icons or desktop icons. It only adds a Start button to the Taskbar. Something else is wrong on your Windows 10 system. |

I DID have to "pull the plug" to reboot. Yes I have a lot of weird problems with win10. Anyway, came up again with no classic button, the win button dead, no icons for running/pinned programs. Will next uninstall Classic, next time it all gets too wacky (about twice a week). Hope I at least get my win button working. Thank you for your help. |

If the Classic shell menu button is not appearing reliably, do a repair installation or copy-paste a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe in your Startup folder at C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup |
