When you have a Recent Items drop down link in the Classic Shell menu, it will *stop* displaying them if you turn this OFF: Windows 10 > Settings > Personalization > Start > Turn OFF Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar. If that is not turned OFF, history of every single web page you visit is shown when you right click on your browser in the Task bar. But if we turn that OFF for that reason - then we no longer can see Recent Items drop down link in the Classic Shell menu. Can there be an option for a Recent Items DROP DOWN link in Classic Shell that would display Recent Items, in other words FILES we recently opened without this being affected by Windows 10 > Settings > Personalization > Start > Turn OFF Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar I think if it just displayed %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items that is the location of Recent Items. This can be custom done now in Classic Shell but how do you get it to display a DROP DOWN menu instead of a direct link to %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent Items Thank you for your help. |

I think if you disable the setting, then Windows will stop adding items in the Recent Items folder. That's why the start menu hides the menu when the setting is disabled. |

You are correct and thank you for posting that. This is a Windows OS feature. Perhaps there is a registry entry that controls the web pages being displayed *separate* from Recent Items (files). Perhaps not. Either way, Classic Shell has nothing to do with it because as you posted 'if you disable the setting, then Windows will stop adding items in the Recent Items folder.' Thanks again. |
