I like Classic shell, but the current Windows update for Windows 10 removed it.
Then it said I cannot install classic shell because it will damage my system.

Maybe it is time for Ubuntu. I already installed it on my Wife's machine.

Hopefully, the Classic shell people can fix the awful mess that is befalling us poor users.

Microsoft is using all of us like a bag of tools.

Try to download the Classic Shell Utility: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe, remove Classic Shell using the utility and then download and install latest version of Classic Shell from: http://classicshell.net/downloads/latest Make sure there are no other third party Start Menus installed.

Maybe that would have worked, but I rolled back the Windows upgrade.
There were other things broken too, and it made all my programs vanish into thin air.

My next machine will have Centos on it.

Have you tried Linux Mint? It's pretty good for a typical end user. Or you need the enterprise features of RHEL/CentOS?

I don't want insulation layers and something that tries to protect me from myself.
I installed Ubuntu for my wife but I do not like it for that reason.
Ubuntu won't let me su root, though I understand you can use sudo instead.
Anyway, it will definitely be Centos for me.
