Initially, one of the options on the classic shell menu (on the left side) was a return to the Windows 10 native start menu. Somehow (I have no Idea how) this has disappeared. A Google search tells me how to remove it, but not how to put it back. How do I put it back? Incidentally, I can still get to the Windows 10 native start menu by pressing Shift + Windows keys. This is actually more convenient that going through the classic shell start menu, but it annoys me that something that I don't understand has happened. |

To add the Start Menu/Start Screen shortcut again, check the option: "Show Start screen shortcut" on the Main Menu tab of Classic Start Menu settings. |

I apologize if I am doing this wrong; I am new to this forum and am not sure what I am doing. I may be replying to my own post or I may be replying to the reply to my post. I tried the check box "Show Start screen shortcut" before posting my question. It has no effect. Also, I have posted the same question twice. I am sorry for that. I thought that it did not successfully post the first time. |

Something weird is happening. Maybe the shortcut is there but is hidden. Right-click on any of the pinned programs in the menu and select Properties. In the General tab you will see a line called "Location:". It has a path, which would either end on "Pinned" or "Start Menu". Go to that folder in Explorer and look for a file named "startscreen". Also enable the setting to view hidden files in Explorer. If you find it but it's hidden, open the properties and uncheck "Hidden". Another potential problem is if the shortcut "Start Screen" is missing from the "Program Files\Classic Shell" folder. Check if that's the case. |

Ivo, Thank you. I found both of the problems that you described. The files were missing, not hidden. I uninstalled classicshell and reinstalled it. That solved the problem. After the reinstall, for the sake of academic curiosity, I unpinned the native Windows 10 start menu shortcut from the classic shell start menu and put it back again by checking the "Show Start screen shortcut" check box in the classicshell settings. It worked. I have no idea what went wrong the first time, but thins seem to be working now. Thanks for your help. |
