Please help: The 'start menu (windows)' doesn't work. My 'win key' doesn't work. Shift+win key doesn't work. I can't seem to get the original 'Windows Start' to work with any method. If I exit ClassicStart, the Windows Start button doesn't work. I think folks would say that 'then this isn't a Classic Start issue'. But somehow, when I've installed ClassicStart, this has been triggered. So somehow, things have gotten messed up. Any ideas how I might fix this? Thanks. |

Well if exit, or uninstall do nothing, you can try opening command prompt (as admin) and type "sfc /scannow /f /r/' This will check your windows system integrity, and replace any damaged files. *It may also remove certain system mods that you have installed* |

Well that is true, this isn't a Classic Shell issue because the changes it does are only temporary - that is, as long as the app's processes and DLLs are loaded. As soon as Classic Start Menu exits, the changes are reverted, they are not permanent. So whatever is causing your Windows Start Menu to not open might be related to updates. Which version of Windows are you using? Also, try uninstalling Classic Shell and see if the problem is fixed. Note that you must not have multiple Start Menus installed. |

Thanks for the inputs. sfc didn't find any issues. Gaurav: I use Windows 10. Even after 'uninstalling Classic Start', the Start button didn't work. (note: neither did the Action Center). References on the web indicated that this problem does come up with Windows 10, and there are several options that folks list that solved it. I found that it was fixed by ReRegistering the AppPackages. Still don't know what happened. Thanks for the suggestions! |
