Feature requests:

1)
When using [Settings][Show all settings] having the tabs roll makes it very hard to keep track of what I looked at.
Please freeze the tabs in-place, then I could just click in sequence without loosing track

2) It would be nice to have advanced settings for just the Taskbar (including Notification area)

1) You can resize the Classic Shell Settings window so all the tabs show on a single row. The contents of "Start Menu Style", "Skin" and "Customize Start Menu" tabs don't change regardless of whether "Show all settings" is checked.

2) 7+ Taskbar Tweaker handles taskbar settings so well (http://rammichael.com/7-taskbar-tweaker) that there was never any need to add Taskbar features to Classic Shell.

Here are some articles to tweak the taskbar:
- Tweak the taskbar in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 7 with hidden secret registry settings
- Get a classic taskbar in Windows 8 and Windows 7 that works like XP
- Customization for power users with 7+ Taskbar Tweaker
- Reduce extra space between icons on the taskbar and tray notification area
- Show numbers on taskbar buttons with 7+ Taskbar Numberer
- How to make taskbar icons bigger in Windows 10
- How to set the taskbar to a lighter color in Windows 10

I disagree. I have 2 problems with resizing the "Settings for Classic Start Menu 4.2.5" window.

I have Classic Start Menu 4.2.5 on both Win 7 Professional and Windows 10 Pro.

1. I can only resize it's width.

a. On my laptop, I can not get the TABS to all be on a single line, even after making the window as wide as it will go. Surely this is a function of the resolution and font sizes. The monitor has a resolution of 730 x 1366, and I have the TEXT sizing (windows) set to 125%.

b. On my laptop (Windows 10) , because I can only resize the window width, the window is slightly hidden behind behind the taskbar (which in on the bottom of my monitor). I can not see the BACKUP, OKAY and CANCEL buttons at the bottom unless I move the window as far to the top as is possible. (Even then, I can only see part of the buttons, but enough to press them.)

2. The window does not act like a normal WINDOWS window. Specifically, I can not MAXIMIZE the window. SPACE BAR + ALT has the Minimize and Maximize functions gray out (disabled).

The operating sysem has nothing to do with these behaviors. They are the same on win 7 and win 10.

B.T.W. My first day on this forum. And I must add: I couldn't LIVE without CLASSIC SHELL. what Windows 10 has done (by removing most of the ability to customize the window colors, border sizes, fonts, etc.) may be enough to make me uninstall it.

The next release of Classic Shell will add minimize and maximize buttons to the Settings window. Still, if you can't fit your OK/Cancel buttons, then your DPI setting is set too high for your display size and resolution. You can set a custom DPI setting too like 120% or 115%.

Notification area:
1. How to change the color of the icons in the notification area?
Taskbar:
1. How to alter the appearance of the 'currently active window' representation?
2. How to alter the window representation underscores?

Cheers!

(PS I've installed the 'Tweaker' and it is OK so far as it goes...)
(PPS Classic Shell is FANTASTIC! :) )

I would actually argue that 1280x768@125% scaling is common enough that it should be the minimum supported size (The settings could very easily shrink enough to accommodate this size)

the tooltip below the primary field ('The settings that are modified from the default will show in bold, right-click on a setting for more functions') is largely unnecessary and just a waste of space)
the searchbox and 'show all settings could fit on the bottom row with OK, Backup, and Cancel. (help is small enough it could be right above the link to 'classicshell.net')
Also it should be noted that you can still hit enter in-place of clicking OK ;)

When the window is maximized starting with Classic Shell 4.3.0, this issue is eliminated as the OK, Cancel buttons never go below the taskbar. Only the Start button section on the Style tab can render outside the screen in extreme cases of DPI scaling set higher than the actual screen DPI. All the rest of the tabs and buttons remain unaffected once the window is maximized.

The "empty" space at the bottom is where the name of the translator goes for the localized versions. The only thing that will help shrink down the size of the settings is to use smaller icons for the styles. I feel however that anything smaller will make them unreadable.

I think the change in the latest release 4.3.0 to add a Maximize button to the Settings window solves the problem. Even in a smallish Virtual Machine window with DPI scaling higher than required I can change all settings.

The name/link of the translator could be exclusive to the language tab... which could easily be a drop-down list on an 'about' tab instead that could hold a bunch of other things, like the help link, the classic shell link, a 'check for stable updates', a 'check for beta updates', and a 'check for language updates' buttons., as well as some of the text at the start of the help file
