Recent Items list is still maintained by Windows, it is only shown by Classic Shell. Go to the Settings app in Windows 10 (Win key+i) > Personalization > Start and turn on "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar".

This used to work well in Windows 8.1 now even if I open a few text or document files, the list of recently opened files is empty on Windows 10 Please help |
