Post subject:  Quick access to network location from start menu

Hi there

I'm having trouble in browsing to a network location such as \\server from the start menu in Windows 8.1
In windows 7 i could just click the windows button to pop up the start menu then type \\server which would open up the shares available.
In windows 8.1 it just opens up Search Results in Indexed Locations.
Is there anyway to adjust this to browse to the network location?

Cheers

There was a bug inadvertently introduced in Classic Shell 4.2.x because a change was made where "See more results" is selected by default similar to the Windows 7 Start Menu if nothing is shown in search results. That change broke the UNC path behavior.

For Classic Shell 4.2.1, if you are using the Windows 7 style of the Classic Start Menu, press the Up arrow key once to de-select "See more results" after typing the \\Computer-Name and then press Enter.

If you are using the Classic style, type a \ after the computer name and then press Enter.

Or temporarily revert to Classic Shell 4.1.0 until this bug is fixed in a future release.
