The left column of the Start Menu has two sections. On top is the pinned section and below it is the recent/frequent list of apps. Because Classic Shell has many options and choices:
1. For pinned shortcuts, they can be at %appdata%\ClassicShell\Pinned or %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and %programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. It depends on a setting called "Pinned programs folder" on the Main Menu tab of Start Menu settings.
2. For recent/frequent list, they are both stored in the Registry in encoded form meaning you can't/shouldn't modify them. The most frequently used apps list is actually maintained by Windows in the Registry, Classic Start Menu only shows that data. The recently used apps list is maintained by Classic Shell itself and also stored in the Registry. Which list is active depends again on the setting called "Show recent or frequent programs" on the Main Menu tab.
Okay, we decided to go the classic mode with just pre established items populated there without any recent applications listed.
Much appreciated for your help. Hopefully we will make it work and we will help this project which is a blessing for us!
