Hi, Is there a way via a command line or script to import a settings file? I have about thirty Win7/Enterprise PCs whose settings I want to update. I have set up a system the way I want it and have exported a settings file. I know I can import the settings file individually at each workstation, but it would be ideal if I could put the settings file in a share and set up a logon script to import that file from the share as the users log on. Can this be done? GaryK |

Yes, it can be done by using the latest beta version 4.2.0: http://www.classicshell.net/history/#v420 |

Thanks! No pressure, just curious, is there an ETA on a release date? Are we looking at a few days, a few weeks, a few months? Ivo wrote: Yes, it can be done by using the latest beta version 4.2.0: http://www.classicshell.net/history/#v420

What do you mean? The beta is already out. You can download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/r3h2y ... _4_2_0.exe |

Two questions: 1) Please can you point me to instructions for exporting a settings file on one machine and then importing it into another machine? 2) Is there any way to do run the 4.2.1 update via a silent install that I could run in a logon script? 1) You can save the settings to XML file and then import them on the other machine. The import can happen from the command line using the -xml command line switch (ClassicStartMenu.exe -xml <the file>) 2) You can run the installer silently using the regular MSI parameters: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#install_commands. Keep in mind the installer has to run as admin in that case. So at logon may not be the best time to do that. |
