when i right click a result in the start menu search, the item "open file location" in the context menu is grey. i can't live with this. literally. i cannot. if this isn't fixed soon i will kill myself. |

What version of Windows do you have? What kind of item are you clicking on? In which search section? |

windows 10 technical preview. build 10041 a file, a folder, a program. anywhere in the start menu |

Hm. Works for me. What if you right-click on that same shortcut but in Explorer? BTW, if you want to open the actual file that search found, you need to select "Explore". "Open file location" is only for shortcuts and will open the target of the shortcut. |

It will be grayed out if you unchecked "Enable Windows Explorer" on the Context Menu tab of Classic Start Menu settings. And you are welcome because I saved your life. ![]() |

And you are welcome because I saved your life. ![]() i may have done that while desparately trying to disable the explorer toolbar. eventually i was able to disable the explorer toolbar, but i forgot what the setting for that is named. i'd like to request it named more prominently. to save more lives in the future, can the greyed-out item get a tooltip explaining that it only works when explorer is enabled? |

Well I guess this particular setting is a bit ambiguously described. It could be named slightly better e.g. "Enable context menu commands that open Windows Explorer" but note that this text needs to be translated into all the supported languages. |
