Hi, I really enjoyed using Classic Shell in Windows 8. It gives me the best of both worlds - Windows 7 interface plus Windows 8 updates. One thing though, I have been looking around the web and some say that Windows Snap [using the windows key plus the left or right arrow to move the current windows to the left side or right side oft he screen] can still be used in Windows 8. I use this feature a lot in Windows 7 to compare documents. But using Classic Shell, it seems not to be working. Has anyone found anyway for Windows Snap to work with Classic Shell in Windows 8?

I am referring to Snap in the desktop, with 2 programs running side by side, just like in Windows 7, not apps in the Metro interface. The Snap feature in the Metro interface is not practical for me, as the size of the apps opened are fixed as about 1/3 to 2/3 - I prefer it half and half.

whats so great about windows 8 updates?

and what is windows 7 snap? i have two programs open, windowed or full screen, and pressing the Win key + left or right doesnt do anything..

but i guess its probably because i disabled that annoying auto-dock feature

Snap functionality is not affected by Classic Shell in any way. It works flawlessly for me with Classic Shell installed. The only reason it may not work is if it is turned off. Check in 'Ease of Access Center: Make the mouse easier to use' if 'Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen' setting is on and uncheck it to turn on Snap.

Hey that is great - thanks, I got the Snap working again. Didn't know that command affects the snap function. I got my dual pane back - Cheers!

"Automatically Arranged" is very vague, and lets Windows do all kinds of crazy stuff with your Windows during normal usage..

i think it should be re-worded and broken down into sub selections.. I like the Idea of tiling them, I hate the idea of docking them or going auto fullscreen

One enhancement they can do is make it snap only when a hotkey is held down while dragging the window such as Shift.
