We are using Windows 7 x64 Enterprise with Zenworks 11 and for some reason the start menu works great under my administrator login (screenshot below). We are using Zenworks 11 here.  But I do have not see the same start menu under a staff login (screenshot below)  Is there any specific permissions that a user needs for it to work? |

are your links/shortcuts using absolute paths or relative paths? Absolute path would be similar to C:\program files\programsname\program.exe relative would be likely have the word "Username" or something similar in the path |

The contents of the start menu come from the two folders: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu The contents of the first folder are per-user and the second is shared. So if you want something to be seen by all users put it in the second folder. |

Hi, Thanks for your messages, Novell Zenworks locates its icons under c:\program files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\cache\zmd\ But This does not explain how it works under my login and not a Staff or Student login. |

The "Program Files" folder is not included in the start menu. Only the two Start Menu folders are. If you are seeing something in your login, check both of these folders and you will find a shortcut there. |

Hi, You are correct and the Zenworks icons are in the following location: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu I file transferred to the PC and the icons are located under the path above in a staff or student login, so i'm not too sure why the icons are not appearing under a staff or student logs in?? |

What do you mean by "staff"? is <username>="staff"? Basically every user has their own folder. After you log in as the user you care about, look in the Start Menu folder for that user and see if the icons you want are there. |

Hi, Under my account which is an administrator the start menu works fine. I administrate a school network and if a staff member login in they get the start menu that looks like the one i posed earlier. A staff members account is restricted via GPO. I am going to try the new version and see if it works. |

Okay, so the Zenworks shortcuts are in the per-user Start Menu, and the "staff" accounts are non-admin standard accounts. In this case, those shortcuts don't show in the non-admin account's Start Menu? This must be some GPO configured for example: User configuration: Start Menu and Taskbbar -> Remove user's folders from the Start Menu. Try changing that. |
