I've just installed classic shell, and this is great! There's only one thing that isn't as good, only the frequent programs show up on the shortcut list, I'd rather have the recent ones on top, and any newly installed one at the bottom of the list, like windows 7 used to do. I looked in the behavior and advanced settings, but nothing could do it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

I don't think Windows 7 sorts the list by how recently a shortcut is used, and also it doesn't show newly installed programs there. Can you describe in detail the behavior you are seeing in Windows 7?

In windows 7 you'd have 2 zones, and a third camouflaged. On the black one you could add sticky shortcuts. On the red, the frequent used programs. On the blue, basicaly the last icon of the red one, a shortcut for the last program you instaled. That's it

I believe the red area is sorted by frequency of use.
I've only seen the blue thing after a fresh Windows install and it was showing the games. I've never seen it show any of the programs I install myself.

on my other laptop it shows :)

And its really neat because, if you install something, it's very probable you wanna use it right away

I have seen the Windows 7 menu do it sometimes. But regardless of how the Windows 7 menu behaves, I think this is a good idea too. Showing the most recently installed 1 or 2 programs is very, very useful.

The only thing is from a usability perspective, we need to label the sections so it is absolutely clear to the end user what these lists of programs are. They should be labeled "Pinned", "Frequently used" or "Recently used" depending on which list is active, and "Recently installed".

This also makes it clear to the user if he is using the Recently used list or the Frequently used list without having to open Start Menu settings.

Notice how the Windows 10 menu is also labeling sections (Most used, recently added etc):
