Post subject: | Windows Key Functionality |
I use computers for digital signage -- although they normally don't have a keyboard attached, when they do -- hitting the windows key in windows 7 brings up the start menu. There is a script to disable this functionality in windows 7, but it breaks in windows 8 looking for a solution. In windows 8 - in desktop mode - hitting the windows key flips to metro which completely turns off the signage presentation. With classic shell -- and windows 8 -- what happens when a user hits the windows key? Can the windows key be turned off? Ideally, it would be great to be able to access the windows 8 shortcuts, such as Win-X or Win-i -- and the windows key do nothing. Any ideas? |

In the settings you can select the Win key to do nothing. The start menu can still be accessed through other mean - mouse click, Shift+Win, a specific hotkey - it is all customizable. |

Thank you -- To clarify - would the Windows Key shortcuts still work, ie. WindowsKey and X to open the menu? |

Yes. Only the single Win keypress will be affected. |
