Title says it all. I have the latest version, and when I set everything in win7-64 , if I turn off the comp. overnight and then back on in the morning--if I do a reboot for something--if I log of to the admin account & then back into my account (I also have admin rights) the classic menu always resets to the default which makes me set it up again. Can't keep doing that. Any help from someone on what to try.

thanks--ryker

Try running ClassicStartMenu.exe manually. See if the classic menu reappears. If so, something is preventing it from starting automatically.

Check the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. There should be an entry named "Classic Start Menu". Its value should be "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe" or similar.

Thanks--I have CM running on win7-32-w/o a problem. This was a new install of win7-64--and in my haste to set it up, was forgetting about checking everything. I have some programs that it is easier to stop items from running by the msconfig method (shortcut on desktop)--until I use the program and take the check mark out of the startup box buried somewhere deep in the program. Well in doing so, took the startup away from CM with the other 8 programs in the msconfig startup menu. Put the check back for CM-- Things are running normal now, I don't expect to have a problem with CM in 7-64 just as I have not in w7-32. Thanks again. Geez!!

While looking for information about something else, I saw this link and since I will be installing all three Classic Shell components on to a Win7sp1 64-bit laptop I wondered: What Progam files program will Classic Shell install itself into: the 64-bit Program Files folder for 64-bit software, or the Program Files (x86) folder for 32-bit software?

You can select the folder when you install. By default it goes to Program Files regardless of the OS version.
