I set Classic Shell 4.1.0 to skip the Metro screen. However, on startup, the multi-colored Win 8 splash screen still presents. On my touch screen,I then can flip it up to get to the Desktop. Is there, however, a way to bypass the splash screen and boot directly to the Desktop? Thanks.

Right-click on the taskbar, select Properties and go to the Navigation tab.
Check the setting to go to the desktop automatically.

Thanks very much, but I believe that my setings already were as you instructed. See the attached screenshot. To be sure that I explained correctly, the screen to which Win 8 boots is that multi-colored, rainbow-like screen that does not contain ay apps or links.

On Windows 8.1 it is the operating system that decides to go to the desktop or to the metro screen. Classic Shell doesn't do anything in that regard.
If the setting doesn't work for you, then it is something unrelated to the start menu.
