As of April 9th the shut down, restart, switch user is missing. Windows 10. I uninstalled and then reinstalled but still the same problem. My guess is that this is related to a MS update, which I have no control over with W10. I am also unable to do a restore at any point, I also tried that after uninstall/reinstall didn't work. In order to shut down or restart I have to do Control+Alt+Delete and shut down, etc. from there. Thanks

P.S. Other than missing Shut Down, etc., Classic Shell is functioning as usual. Thanks

Right click the Start button and click Settings. In the Settings window search box, type: Start automatically and make sure that "Start automatically for this user" option is checked. If the menu still does not start reliably, then simply create a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe and copy that shortcut to your Startup folder at C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Btw, which OS are you running? Windows 8 or Windows 8.1?

Windows 8. Thanks. The start automatically for this user was checked but I unchecked and then rechecked it. If the start menu is missing next time I log on I've saved your 'create shortcut' instructions and will give that a try. Thanks again.

Are you saying that Classic Shell used to work, but then one day stopped? If so, you can try uninstalling and installing again. It is possible some update or other software broke the start menu.
