A bit hard to explain but I'll try: I press the start button and select a program. When I press enter to open it (and subsequently close the start menu), the start menu will close but not entirely: for a fraction of a second a line of text with the program's name remains visible, resembling an "infotip leftover". Is there a way to avoid this trail? I attach a video example (to make it more clear, it's significantly slowed-down). Thanks.

In Classic Start Menu settings, set the "Fade speed" to 0 from the Menu Look tab.
