Post subject: | Policy Definitions |
Hello, I have a Domain controller windows server 2012 i have imported the policy definitions of classic shell.. Looks awesome! I made everything to work except a few options like: When I configure disable right click and Show Help and Support (I don't tick the box) so it shouldnt display Show Help and Support, but it still does. I see all the other options work , how cna it be? I tried to configure it also in Computer Configuration, but doesn't help. How do I get it working? I apply the policies on a terminal server 2012 r2 on the Administrator account for testing purposes. Can anyone help me out? Regards & Many thanks!, Marco |

The policy settings "Enable right-click menu" and "Show Help and Support" control the right click and Help item inside the Start *Menu* respectively. They have no effect on the right click menu of the Start *button*. If you are trying to disable right click on the Start button itself, you must disable the items in the Start button's context menu individually. - To hide Open and Open All verbs, you must configure the policy: "Enable Windows Explorer" - To disable the Settings item, you must configure the policy: "Enable settings" - To disable the Help item, rename or delete the Help file inside C:\Program Files\Classic Shell When all items inside the Start button's right click menu are disabled, the context menu itself will be disabled. Also, you must exit the Start Menu and start it again from C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe. Or log off Windows and log in again. |

Hey, very much thanks for your reply. I made it all work. I do have a few issues left, hope you can help me with it: I configured: - Skip Metro Screen -> Enabled - Show Run > Disabled - Show Help and Support > Disabled - Printers -> Don't Display this item These 4 settigns are not working, i still keep getting metro screen, it still shows the Run box in the menu, also Help and Support / Printers are shown in the start menu. How can I get this fixed? Regards, Marco |

Look at the comments for the settings. You will see that "Skip Metro Screen" requires Windows 8 (not supported for Windows 8.1 or Server 2012 R2) and that the other 3 require Classic menu style. Skipping the screen is controlled from the Taskbar settings. I don't know if there is a group policy for that. To remove Run, Help and Printers for the Win7 menu style you have to edit "Menu items for the Windows 7 style". |

Great Ivo! Windows 7 menu style worked, I just tested. Skip Metro Screen I fixed without classicshell, see this link: http://www.petri.co.il/bypass-start-screen-windows-8-1-server-2012-r2.htm# Simple registry edit. Great & Thanks ![]() |
