Post subject:  Update Errors/Noton reporting dangerous file deleting 4.1.0  Topic is solved
Ver 4_1_0 Norton is reporting as unsafe and is deleting the download.
Ver 4_0_4 update feature is not working. On my notebook. 4.0.2 the update feature is not working on my wife's HP touchscreeen

I was unable to update ClassicShell 4.0.2 before updating her HP touchscreen 8 pro to 8.11 Also after update to 8.11 Classic Shell is not loading. I've had to put a short cut in her start menu?

I tried to update her to 4_0_6 before running the 8.11 update, classic shell installer would not run. Would get to asking me to shut down IE, I tried both ways closing myself and letting the installer close. In all cases the installer could not find the MSI to continue. At some point I got an error message that MSI could not find a classicStartmenudll.DLL. Tried this morning again to do a repair install on the HP touchscreen.
Getting same message The feature trying use is on a network rescorce. Click to retry or browse for classiShell64_04_02msi.

Tried to install 4.1.0 I get the same error message. I have no Idea where this installer expands to for the install nor why it cannot find the 4.0.2 MSI


I haven't attempted to uninstall as If that were successful I'm not sure that I can get any version installed again?


This is the first issues I've had with ClassicShell since I started using back in Nov 2012

Will insert pictures when I figure out how too. Insert picture doesn't browse for pict's

You can disregard Norton, it is probably reporting WS.Reputation.1, which is BS: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#install_av

Looks like you are having a problem uninstalling the old version (is it 4.0.4?), probably because the uninstaller component is corrupted or deleted. You need to download the installer for the exact version you currently have, run it, and choose Remove: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#install_repair

Well I'm not sure, her classic Shell I saying that it is 4.0.4 but the error is looking for 4.0.2 msi I don't have either file saved.
On my notebook I'll have to change my Norton setting to keep it from deleting the 4.1 file.

Ok I tried the 4.0.4 got the same error as before.
Tried the 4.0.2 it loaded and I tried a Repair install, this failed and I got a Error Message 2324? loaded 4.1 on my notebook all is well, and the update manual does seem to look for an update. All is good with notebook win 8.11 pro MC Classic shell 4.1

Error 2324 means "Could not open file". It is unclear which file this is. You can try running the installer with the /l option to save a log file: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#install_commands
Then look at the log file to see where it is failing.

Ok I used the extract command on the 4.0.2 installer that gave me a .msi file installed that no problems. Then ran the 4.1.exe file and that installed. It failed to close explore. So I accepted that I would have to reboot.
The program ran and installed 4.1.0 however after clicking the finish button I hung at a solid Green Screen no hot corners worked. Ctl Alt Delete brought up the Task manger which showed me no programs were running. I had to hard shut down. And on the boot back up I have 4.1 installed and the Shell loaded properly. Problem Solved Thank you for your Assistance Ivo this is an excellent program. I have used it for 1.5 years this was the first issue I have come up with.
