STAY at the BOTTOM of the right column like the windows 7 one? Or even better since I prefer the 7 one, is there a dark theme WITH dark menus (no flashbangs when clicking the programs folder please) like this for it http://classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1948 (ya'll should put [S/D/7] for single, double, 7, [DARK] [LIGHT] etc in your thread titles) |

If you are using Classic with two columns style, make sure there is a "Column padding" at the top of the Shutdown item. That will keep the Shutdown button stay at the bottom. It's already there by default but if it got accidentally deleted, go to the Customize Start Menu tab and drag Column_padding from the right column to the left column and drag to position it above the Shutdown button. As for a darker skin, there is a Smoked glass skin in Classic with two columns style. You can set skins from the Skin tab in Settings. The glass based skins follow the system color which you can change from Control Panel -> Personalization -> Color and Appearance. You could also switch to the High Contrast Windows theme and then use the Classic skin of the Start Menu which uses system colors. |

Hello and thanks for this great addon for Windows7! I can't imagine how I could use this OS without Classic Shell! I'd like to ask something about the Shut down and Log off buttons. I believe it's the right place, since this topic is about the Shut down button. Is it possible somehow to place them "in" the thin line (which would make it expand of course) that appears under the search box (as they used to be in XP) and next to each other? I use the Zune theme from the Embeded skin (not a default one but it follows the Luna theme). Also, since 4.04 the distance between the programs seems to be bigger. How to change that? And last (sorry if I ask for too much), is there any option to have different sizes for the icons in the two columns? Thanks a lot even if you reply or not! You've already made W7 a better OS! |

The closest you can get is by using inlined buttons: http://www.classicshell.net/gallery/Start-Menu/search They will not appear inside the thin line though. The distance between the programs is controlled by the skin. You will have to edit the skin. No, not possible to have icons of different sizes in the main menu. |

In case you need help showing inline buttons, here's how to do it. Go to the Customize Start Menu tab in Settings, double click the parent item (e.g. Shut down in this case) and check the option "Insert sub-items as buttons". They will show like this: When you hover over the icons, the labels will show as tooltips. You could try changing the setting "Large icon size" on the Menu Look tab from 32 to 24. It doesn't reduce the spacing between programs (that can be done by editing the skin) but more programs fit in the menu. After changing the size, you will need to exit the menu and start it again. You can't have different sizes in two columns but you can change the padding for the second column separately from the first column. The value Main_padding controls left column's padding and Main2_padding controls right column's padding (the 4 values are number of pixels to add on left/top/right/bottom of the menu respectively). |
