Just installed Classic Start Menu 4.04 on a Windows 8.1 Pro x64 machine. Great piece of software! However, I have set Control Panel to display as a link (personal preference) and when I click on Control Panel, it will always open up displaying large icons rather than categories (again, personal preference). I adjust the view to Category, but it does not 'stick' when I go back to it through the Classic Start Menu. Is there something in the settings I am missing?

Addendum: just discovered that I can change the Control Display from large icons to small icons, and that display gets retained the next time I go into Control Panel via Classic Start Menu. It seems that it's only the category view that can't be retained.
Just for heck of it, I installed Classic Shell 4.0.2 and set the Control Panel up as a link in Classic Start Menu. I can adjust Control Panel to categories view in it and the setting is retained.

You need to enable the setting "Use Categories view for the Control Panel"
