Post subject:  Start Menu folder on D: partition / one click restore ?

Hi

Ive been using Xp for 13 years, but it seems I'll have to move to 8.1 (for hardware support, not security :)).

On xp I used the "special folders" relocation, and the start menu folder was located on D:, I just had to import a registry key to have all my shortcuts, and keyboard shortcuts back.

Can I proceed the same way with Classic Start Menu ?

Thanks

On current versions of Windows, you can right click the Start Menu folder or the Programs folder in Explorer, click Properties and change the path from the Location tab. You will have to do this for both - the per user Start Menu folder and the All Users Start menu folder.

Log out after you change the location. If Classic Start Menu does not point to the new location, there are also Group Policy settings to redirect the folders called: Start Menu folder, Common Start Menu folder, Programs folder, and Common Programs folder. Restart the Start Menu for changes to take effect after configuring the policy settings.
