I am using Windows 8 with the 8.1 upgrade (hate W8) so found Classic Shell to give me back the "start menu"; would like the option to remove the log off & locked buttons as it can be done on the classic setting - I am using the Windows 7 style setting in classic shell & there is no setting to disable these items.

Thanks for any help.

Made an error, it should be the sleep & lock buttons no the log off button

You can use the group policy "Shutdown menu items" to select which menu items are available in the Windows 7 style. For that you need to install the group policy files that you can find in the folder where you installed Classic Shell.

1. Extract files from C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\PolicyDefinitions.zip to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions.
2. Start Gpedit.msc (Group Policy Editor)
3. Go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Classic Shell -> Classic Start Menu -> Shutdown menu items.
4. Follow the instructions given in the policy's explanation and you will be able to customize the Shutdown submenu for Windows 7 style.
