Post subject: | Folders won't display |
There are a few folders which disappeared recently from my menu. The do not appear in any view - Classic to Win7. Tried them all. The folder attributes are not set to hidden. They do not display in Win Explorer when clicking "Open all users". They do not appear when I navigate to the programs folder manually either. They only appear when I check with the command prompt! This is annoying because the links to my virus checker are in there, and I can't get to them. Can anyone explain why some folders refuse to display? (even though they did previously a few weeks ago when I created them) How can I get them to display? Running ClassicShell 4.0.2 on Win8.0 |

Well, if Explorer can't see them then the start menu can't either. I can't think of an obvious reason why this happens. Try showing the hidden and system files in Explorer. |

Desktop.ini also may be at work. Maybe Explorer is showing them with a different name because of Desktop.ini and command prompt is showing the real name. |

I took a look at the desktop.ini file in the Programs directory, but it was only one line long. I didn't know what to make of it. But I did think of a workaround. I created a new folder with a different name in the Programs folder. Then, I copied the icon files over to the new folder with the command line. I still don't know what is causing the problem, or how to fix it directly, but the workaround has taken care of my problem. I can see the icons in the start menu now. (Just hope it doesn't happen again.) |
