Post subject:  Drag metro app start menu shortcuts onto desktop?

Hello there. This is my first post here.

I am wondering, how do i drag metro app start menu shortcuts onto my desktop and have them work?
I tried dragging them but when i double-click on them,it just asks me how i want to open a .htm file.
Can i get this to work,or do i have to add the shortcuts to the desktop manually?

Please help,I am confused... :(

What kind of shortcut are you dragging? If it is asking about .htm, then most likely the shortcut is for a web page.

Microsoft didn't do anything in Windows 8 to make it easier for Metro apps to be launched from the Desktop that is why you need Classic Start Menu or other apps which can launch Metro apps using their AppID. If you need to have shortcuts on the desktop to Metro apps without using third party apps, then see this: http://winaero.com/blog/exclusive-how-t ... rt-screen/ You need to create a shortcut with the target:
Explorer.exe shell:AppsFolder\<AppID>.

The metro app shortcuts are .htm files when i open their containing folder. When i launch them from the start menu,it opens the app,but from the desktop NOTHING happens.

EDIT: Thanks, GauravK.You solved my problem. Thanks!

By the way,the reason i wanted to use the metro app shortcuts is because i use ModernMix and i wanted to be able to access them without going through the start menu. I am so lazy.
