Since I installed Classic shell I can't set a desktop image. I have tried and tried. Anyone know of this problem?

Thanks

Classic Shell doesn't affect the desktop image. Were you able to do so before?
Also - what version of Windows do you have? How are you setting the desktop image?

I am running the notorious Windows 8.1. I could set it fine before. I have tried using several images saved into the computer using the same way I always have. I looked at aall the FAQs in power shell and didn't see any addressing the problem but thought I's ask anyway. I had an image before I installed the program and haven't done anything else. Generally this means the only new program is causing the problem.

Actually I didn't really think this was the problem but I had to ask.

I have a BLACK background with my dwsktop icons and cannot change it.

Btw, glsmaxx , are your desktop icons hidden by any chance? There is a black desktop bug in Windows 8.1: http://winaero.com/blog/bug-desktop-tur ... ndows-8-1/

Is your Windows activated as well? Sometimes Windows prevents use of a desktop background until the copy of Windows if activated.

Try exiting the Start Menu by right clicking the Start button -> Exit. If it still happens, something else is causing it. If you believe Classic Shell is the cause, try uninstalling it but you can be sure it doesn't affect the desktop wallpaper.
