| Post subject: | Add desktop to Search? |
Is there a way to make the search box also search the desktop in addition to the "programs" tree for links to installed desktop programs? I tried to figure out how to do it using the tutorials - adding a custom item to the search box - but all I succeeded in doing was crashing classic shell!

The Start Menu in Classic Shell 4+ has Windows Search integration. Open Indexing Options from the Control Panel icons view, click Modify and add the Desktop folder to the list of folders to index (check the folder at C:\Users\<your user name>Desktop). Then any files from it will be indexed and searchable in the Start Menu. Note that they will show up under "Files". That's how the Windows Start Menu also shows them. |

Thanks! I found that item already checked, but I had turned off searching for files in Classic Shell. |
