From Classic Shell start menu I went to apps a dragged MAIL to my desktop for a shortcut The shortcut does not work and mail is gone from apps a the Win 8 desktop? |

Metro shortcuts don't work by themselves. Only the start screen and the start menu know how to use them. You need to move the shortcut back to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe |

The shortcut is a file. The desktop is a folder. So you have to move the file from one folder to another. Do you know how to do that? |

I tried holding down the left mouse button and moving the shortcut back to apps but no luck |

You can't move it back to the start menu. You have to move it in Explorer to this folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe |

Copy this text (select with the mouse, press Ctrl+C): %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe Press Win+E to open a new Explorer window Press Alt+D to go to the address bar. If that doesn't work, click on the address bar Press Ctrl+V to paste the text into the address bar. Press Enter. This will open the correct folder in Explorer Drag the icon from your desktop into the right pane of the Explorer window |

Btw ruiman, there is a way to launch Metro apps from desktop or taskbar or ANY location using a third party free app called OblyTile. If you are interested, take a look here: http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-pin-mode ... e-taskbar/ Note that this is unrelated to and unsupported by Classic Shell and I only recommend it to assist you.
