I'm just trying to get the background color matching the taskbar. Both are set to untransparent as in this (locked?) thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1186 I noticed that the color-code copied from photoshop to the background color selector give an entire different color (biege?!). Then I entered each of the R G B colors manually and got a lot closer to the actual color. Notice in this screenshot how the RGB codes are the same (in the background color selector and photoshop), but the 6-charactor color-code is different. ![]() The result is still different. ![]() |

The color you are selecting is not going to be the color of the menu. It just replaces the base system color that will be used by the menu. The color is then modified according to the selected skin and its settings. And if you use transparency, the color will be further modified by the windows in the background. |

Every skin has a bitmap for the glass and a mask bitmap if it uses transparency. Also, the intensity and blending values are involved. So the color is going to be different from what you pick. For an exact and easy taskbar+Start Menu color match when both are opaque, you may find the Winaero Skin 2.0 very useful: http://winaero.com/blog/get-the-best-lo ... -skin-2-0/ |

I'm using the default blue for taskbar and windows (in the config screen, the only blue in the 2nd row) and selected in the shell menu config as background color D0A677, which is close enough for me. ![]() Althou a designer with an eye for colour could probably get the color a lot closer to that. Anyone? Quote: Winaero Skin 2.0 Just out of curiousity I installed it and run it, but it did not seem to change anything. I left the original default opague settings on install. I'm on win 8.1. The point was that the colorcodes inside the color-picker do not correspond to other image software. But I guess that is some sort of opensource library which is beyond the scope of the classic-shell team. ![]() |

Ah I think you have the color overridden now in Start Menu settings which is why the Winaero skin won't be an exact match. Right click the "Menu glass color" setting and click "Set default". Then the Winaero skin will be an exact match. |

Why I recommend against changing the color from the "Menu Glass color" setting is because it becomes a static shade. By default it is on auto so when taskbar color changes, Start Menu color changes too. But if you pick some shade using that setting, it no longer is Auto. ![]() |
