First, Classic Shell ROCKS. This should be an option within any Win 8 deployment. I run it even on my touch screen PCs. Thanks for developing this. Apologies if I missed this but is it possible to change the behavior of a folder that's pinned to the Start menu so that it expands rather than open the contents in a separate window? This would be like what happens when you click on the Shell Start button and see a recent program such as Photoshop, Notepad, Microsoft Word, etc. where there's a black arrow pointing to the right and when you mouse over it you see recent files that were opened. I'd love to be able to do this with folders that I pin to Start as well. Thanks again. |

Yes it's possible. There are 2 ways to do this. First make sure that the setting "Pinned Programs folder" on the Main Menu tab of Start menu settings is set to "Use Start Menu folder" and not the "Pinned folder". Then go the General Behavior tab and make sure that "Expand folder shortcuts" option is checked. Click OK to save settings. Then, either: 1. Drag and drop the folder you want pinned over to the Start button, wait till the menu opens and then pin it by dropping it inside the menu. OR instead of drag and drop, you can use copy-paste. 2. Right click the folder you want pinned and click Copy. Then open %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Right click in an empty area of the Start Menu folder and click Paste shortcut. Both methods work only for the Start Menu folder, not for the Pinned folder. |

Thanks GauravK, worked perfectly! I LOVE Classic Shell for Windows 8.1. Swear to god it's my favorite feature. Microsoft could learn a few things from this. |

With the right skin it can get pretty close to the Win2k look. You may have to use custom for Programs, Settings, etc if you want the EXACT look. |
