Until fairly recently, I just used Classic Shell on my desktop, but now I am also using it on my laptop and tablet. On my desktop, I messed with things awhile back so that the very few Windows Metro apps I had installed showed up under "Programs". However, with more 8.1 computers, I am going to be using more apps, so I now want to display both Apps and Programs (including on my desktop). When I add Apps to my start menu, it shows them. However, when I remove the apps from my Programs menu, it no longer shows them under Apps either. For example, SkyDrive shows up under both Programs and Apps and I only want it to show up under Apps, but when I delete/remove it from Programs, it also gets removed from Apps.

Is there some way to force the apps to show under Apps? Or is there a way to start over/reset (which I doubt since the shortcuts have probably been moved)?

Thanks.

I don't think you should be deleting the shortcuts to apps. They are part of the app and it won't function without the shortcut. Unlike regular software, there is no EXE that you can run directly.

That's why in Classic Shell version 4.0.2 the apps inside Programs are hidden.

For system apps like Store and Desktop I think you can run the "sfc /scannow" command to restore them. For the rest I think you need to install them a gain from the store.

That's my problem... The apps now show up in Programs and, when I delete them from Programs, the apps are also gone from Apps.

Make sure the setting "Hide app shortcuts" in the Main Menu tab is checked. It should be by default.

It was off and enabling the option solved my "problem" - thanks!
