i have A TON of programs on my computer-- i think i have a pretty common issue, is that because i have so many program, when i installed and started using ClassicShell, when i went to click on the start button, and go to PROGRAMS, it shows the cascading list up to about the J's or K's program name, then because there are many more columns, i cannot get to the programs in the latter part of the alphabet...

here are some solutions for you:

higher resolution?
lower dpi settings
smaller fonts for the skin
uncheck "all columns use same size" or whatever its called :P
uninstall some of them programs or remove the shortcuts :P (from the sounds of it you probably have more programs than you really use on a regular basis)

The list should automatically scroll down when you move your mouse pointer to the bottom of it.

But no it does not do that... just stops at the last column and row that shows and can't go further....

If you are already using a multi-column menu, there isn't much you can do to make all programs fit on the screen except the tweaks Jcee mentioned above. Uncheck 'All columns are same size' from the General Behavior tab and increase resolution, lower DPI or modify the skin to use a smaller font and smaller padding.

i thought that was a main feature of this shell program - the ability to have a better product than what microsoft released...

For those of you who remember, there are TWO styles of showing the PROGRAMS on your computer; the old XP style where it was in one column, that scrolled up and down; and with xp or vista, the multicolumn approach - (with the "bug" that it doesn't scroll past the last column on the screen)

does anyone know how to make this shell program just list all the programs in one column?

Search for a setting called "Multiple columns in sub-menus".
