Hi, I've checked the changelog but I can't find any mention of this option disappearing. I used 3.6.8 for months with Windows 8; Windows 8.1 Preview; and Windows 8.1; and they all had the option in the attachment "Show on all taskbars". however with 4.0.2 it's either hiding or gone - can someone let me know what I've missed? thanks [edit: I should add that I want to disable it, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem because it's enabled on all taskbars by default]

On Windows 8, there was no Start button, that's why there was an option to add a second Start button to the secondary monitor. On Windows 8.1, there is no "Show on all taskbars option" as the Microsoft Start button is there regardless on both monitors so at the moment, Classic Shell can only replace it on both or not replace it. The option to hide the OS Start button was never implemented. |

thanks for your reply. GauravK wrote: Classic Shell can only replace it on both or not replace it. Nevertheless, using Windows 8.1 and Classic Start Menu 3.6.8; selecting this option actually does something to the windows start button
so Classic Shell CAN replace it on one and not the other! Perhaps this was unintentional? I find it useful, but I don't know if anyone else noticed! thanks |

Well yes it has but version 3.6.8's integration of the Start Menu with the Microsoft Start button on both monitors is incomplete. It can't use the Windows 8.1 Start button really so when "Show on all taskbars" is unchecked to make the button show only on the primary monitor, the secondary monitor can't use the Start Menu at all. |

Isn't that the point of not showing the button? So it can't be used? In its place (on 8.1) the original windows start button can be used. I think I'm misunderstanding something here. Thanks |

The point of the Classic Shell Start button on systems that already have the Microsoft Start button is to give access to the Start menu features as well as the Start screen when required, suppress hot corners etc. When the button is not replaced with 3.6.8, the Classic Start Menu is not available on the secondary monitor which may not be necessarily what the user wants. |

With Classic Shell 4.0.5, there is a new setting in Classic Start Menu for Windows 8.1 to only show the Start button on the primary taskbar. |
