In the Windows 8.1 Preview, the taskbar had, under the right-click Properties, Navigation menu, the option to: "Go to desktop instead of Start when I sign in" Given this, ClassicShell took out its option to boot directly to the desktop upon boot. However, the release version of Windows 8.1 changed the option. It is now: "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start" It is a big difference. When working in TileWorld/the Metro UI, it is disconcerting to be unceremoniously dropped back to the desktop when exiting an app. Mostly, I like to be able to boot to the desktop and work in desktop. When occasionally in TileWorld, I like to stay there until I choose to exit. However, the ClassicShell option, in the Window 8.1 tab, "Skip Metro Screen" also toggles on the option in the system where BOTH "When I sign in or close apps on a screen" is enabled. Give the difference in behavior between the preview and release versions of Windows 8.1, would it be possible for ClassicShell to go back to its old ways and allow the user to boot directly to the desktop without changing the system setting (which, as explained above, now does more -- and not in a good way).
