I just updated to 8.1, everything went smoothly.......but I have a question I've been meaning to ask and I can't find it. I apologize if it's already been asked and solved.

I think it's called the Jump start list (the list where everything you open accumulates in the start menu (recently opened programs)......even though on windows task bar made the # of programs to keep in recent items list ZERO, yet it still keeps everything I opened recently in the last until I clear them. Is there a setting in classic shell to keep recently opened items from showing up at all. I'm always clearing it.

Thanks

You can disable the jumplists in the start menu by unchecking "Enable jumplists" in the Main Menu settings.

Turning off the jumplists turns off the recent *documents*. If you want to turn off recent programs as well, go to Main Menu tab and set 'Show recent or frequent programs' to 'Don't Show'. If you wish to turn them off systemwide, not just inside the Classic Start Menu, then right click the Taskbar -> Properties -> Jump Lists tab and set both options as required.
