Hi!

I know you can disable the Start button by setting a custom image and setting the width to "1", but could you please add a GUI option to do so?

I don't need the Start button, it's just a waste of space (regardless what its opening), and I even used a tool called "StartKiller" on Windows 7 (unfortunately this doesn't work in 8.1).

TIA! ;-)

There is an app for that: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.215 I don't think such an option is warranted in Classic Shell when size 1 is already possible.

Isnt that already in option? "Enable Start Button" this allows you to click the corner as you would normally for metro (or is that option not available in win 8.1?)
you might have to disable windows 8.1's start button to though however thats done.

No, in 8.1 the option is called "Replace Start Button" and either replaces the button or leaves the default one. It works the same way as on Windows 7. Only on Windows 8 there is a way to have no button because that's the default OS state.

you mean you cant flat out disable the start button in 8.1? Thats funny, I thought the new addition wasnt them admitting they were wrong, but just adding an official option for all the whiners...

I thought the main point of Classic Shell was to give you a functional Start button in Windows 8. If you don't want it, why even use CS?

I myself prefer using icons on the desktop for my most used things, but for the others like the tools and less used things, I need the Start button.

Actually i would deem the menu far more important than the button ;). Also Ivo, maybe you should give all Os's(that classic shell runs on of course) the ability to remove the start button (and start by clicking the corner pixel as per windows 8.0), and then throw another radio button in for all os's other than windows 8.0 titled 'Windows Default' (which I would suggest hiding on windows 8.0 since its unnecessary
