Post subject:  Settings for all users

Hey,

I like to know how i can use the settings off my main users for all my users..
I really need this for a school project, we working with domains here and we cant copy settings to every new user.. so basicly if a user logs in it must be the same settings as the administrator.

How to do it? I did saw something on a settings tab in the registry but i do not have that?

Who can help me?

Greetings,
Luukwa

Look at the Administrative Settings section in the help. Basically you have to copy some registry values from HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu into HKLM\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu. Those settings will be forced on all users and can't be changed. The names of most settings are obvious.

If you want to force all settings for all users, then simply export the reg from HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu , edit it in Notepad to replace all instances of HKCU with HKLM and merge it back.

You will have to exit Classic Start Menu and start it again from C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe for changes to take effect. Or log off Windows and login back.If you are using the beta version, the settings will be in HKCU\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings

The only thing that i want at this moment is the same skin on every user... i am installing the beta version right now and see if that will work.

Classic Shell 4.0.4 introduces Group Policy support for its own settings. The file, C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\PolicyDefinitions.zip includes the policy definitions. If you have an Active Directory domain, extract the files to %logonserver%\sysvol\%userdnsdomain%\policies\PolicyDefinitions\ or whatever your Group Policy Central Store is. For Local Group Policy, extract them to C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions folder.
