I havce used this classic shell for sometime now and think it is great-
I do notice though on the workspace area there are 2 'hidden' desktop.ini files (they look like ghost icons) that are always there- I do not want to delete them and have something get broken- so was wondering if they should be there-
sometimes even a 'network or local connection' or network area icon appears- not now that is why I do not remember the exact name- but just sometimes when I log in- though that is not hidden- but a bit odd that it just shows up every now and then-

any ideas if I can delete them?

Thanks!

You probably have selected to see system (not simply hidden) files in your Explorer settings. This has nothing to do with Classic Shell

yes, I'd leave them. They look important.
