Just installed a fresh copy of Win 8.1 Enterprise x86 on a Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop and the first thing I installed was v4.0.2 of Classic Start Menu.

After each boot all I get is a black screen with the mouse pointer? If I then press the power button I briefly see the desktop before the laptop goes to sleep. If I then press the power button it wakes up and goes straight into the desktop OK???

Any ideas as to why the first time each boot it has a black screen with the mouse pointer??

UPDATE

I uninstalled 4.0.2 and W8.1 loads straight to the desktop...??

Well it seems that the problem is caused by my graphics driver!!

The ATI Mobility X1400 Radeon driver I have on my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop worked OK with Windows 8 but NOT 8.1 and because it's ancient there's no newer driver.. Oh well..

Glad you got it resolved as we couldn't offer any assistance since the issue wasn't reproducible here. :)
