I feel like a nascence today but the Recent Documents shows on the menu as Documents but is not showing any recent documents.

1) Have you used any documents recently?

2) If you double click on Documents it will open in Explorer. Is the folder empty?

3) Go to the taskbar properties and open the Jump Lists tab. Do you have "Store and display recently opened items in Jump Lists" checked? That option also controls if documents will be tracked.

1) Yes, quite a few

2) The folder is empty

3) What "jump list tab"? The only tabs are | Taskbar | Start Menu | Toolbars |

Edit:

I pocked around and discovered that if I select both option in the Privacy section of the Start Menu tab then it starts keeping recent documents but if I only select the first one "Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu it does not store them.

The first options is for programs, the second is for documents.
