I am trying to get classic shell working. I have loaded onto a client and each time a user logs on the classic start menu pops up. I have then imported the startmenu template into policies and created a startmenu gpo on server2008. However, now when a user logs in, the classic start menu does not load up when you click the start menu, the win10 start menu loads. Right clicking the start menu and then clicking settings opens the classic start menu settings and 'left click opens' is greyed out so must be picking up the gpo settings that I set. Just not sure why classic shell start menu wont open. Removing the GPO allows the classic shell start menu to open again but want it to work with the GPO. Any ideas........?

"Left click opens" must be set to "Classic Start Menu" in the GPO, not to "Windows Start Menu".

Thanks for that prompt reply. It worked. Now I can have a play around with the GPO settings. Are there anymore GPO settings that don't work with 'windows start menu'? I was hoping to use the windows7 start menu on win10 machines.

"Windows Start Menu" means Windows 10 Start Menu since you are running Windows 10. With "Classic Start Menu" (which is the one added by Classic Shell), you already get a superset of the Windows 7 style menu on Windows 10.
