A clean install of Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell used to shutdown with NO confirmation box. Since installing Windows Media Center, I am getting a Windows shutdown confirmation box which is really annoying. I have tried a CS repair and a complete uninstall/ install. Help?

What does the confirmation say? Also, what happens when you shut down from other places like the Win+X menu?

It is a windows 8 dropdown box which says "what do you want the computer to do?" with alternatives, shutdown, log off, etc

Ah, I see. Save your settings to XML file and attach it here.

Settings file attached as requested. Also, form Win+X computer shuts down immediately and also from shortcut "C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00" with no confirmations required.

If you select the "shutdown" item in the main menu you will get the dialog box. It is not a "confirmation" dialog (like the one you can enable for log off) but the same dialog as when you press Alt+F4 on the desktop. If you open the sub-menu of that item you will see a regular Shutdown item that will not ask anything.

From the Customize Start Menu tab in the settings you can change the behavior of the main item. Change the command from "shutdown_box" to just "shutdown".

Thanks Ivo. That solves the problem perfectly! I have just added that item to the menu instead of replacing the other command, so I have choice! I cannot recomend Classic Shel enough. I totally transforms a useless (but fast) operating system (Windows 8.1)
