Not sure if anyone here knows this, but in some later beta builds of Windows XP, the flag logo on the login screen was actually animated. After accidentally stumbling upon the original image for that animation, I decided to turn it into an animated Start Button. I made 2 versions, one with the original 50-frame animation, and another with the animation extended to 250 frames, just shy of the max Classic Shell supports. Unfortunately, I had to speed up the 250-frame version, since...well...you can't exactly set the green channel to 300

The original animation had a white background for some reason, and I will admit that I didn't do an amazing job of removing it. If anyone wants to do better, I can provide the original image (though you can get it yourself if you have Windows XP - just look in C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll , in the BITMAP section ._. )

You beat me to it, Splitwirez.:)

I had that image in the "to do folder".
I'll delete it now.

I could not figure that frame limit.
Is it 255 total, or just for each row?

Eh...you can have a maximum of 255 frames. Total. Including the normal and pressed states.

I wanted this as a Start button!!! Splitwirez you are awesome!! Thank you. :) I wish I DIDN'T have a high DPI screen! Most Start buttons including this one look pixelated at 1080p. I was perfectly happy with 1280 x 800 until my old PC broke.

It'd be kind of a pain. Not hard though, just tedious

Wasn't there another animated flag in some Windows system.
It would fade into a world globe? Probably for internet.
Could have been 98, XP.
It's probably small and pixelated for todays monitors though.

Here is a slightly better transparent version. It's difficult because of 4 or 5 pixels on each frame, that would need to be edited, and that's a lot of frames. I pass.

Yeah, it was the "throbber" for Internet/Windows Explorer. That showing the globe indicated a website was loading.
